Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary

This weekend, we took a trip to the Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary.

The sign read "Bird Sanctuary", but all the brochures said "Nature Sanctuary".

Riding on Daddy is always fun.

Some kind of ostrich species.

A nice creek.

Apparently, this tortoise was VERY hungry, because he found it necessary to sit on top of his food and eat!

Breaking into the Secret Hideout

The other day, Alexis was happily playing in the livingroom, so I went into the kitchen to get some coffee, and things got very quiet. I knew something was going on, so I went back into the livingroom. No Alexis. I knew she couldn't have gotten far, and I hadn't heard the doggie door open, so I peered behind the chair and what do you know...
Alexis had committed her first act of breaking and entering. The space behind the chair has always been somewhat of a secret hideout for Elvis. He uses it to keep his toys and an occasional doggie treat that he wants to come back to. Even though it's always been his space, he didn't seem to mind sharing it with his little buddy. So, the two of them played back there together.

Henderson Cultural Festival

Today, we went to the Henderson Cultural Festival.
We learned that "Cultural" means "old cars" in Henderson, apparently. Mommy didn't realize the camera was set to black and white, at first.

Alexis enjoyed the old cars, but didn't really like wearing her hat so much.

More cars.

Okay, so there was more than just cars...

Western African Dancer, Antonette Stanton, and some recruits from the audience.

Alexis checking out the dancers.

Mmmm...Alexis' first taste of beef satay.

Alexis telling us the story about the first time she had beef satay.

Kerala Association of Las Vegas, India

Daddy and Alexis by one of the stages. There was a Chinese cooking demonstration going on, at the time.

Pink chicken (tandoori) and samosa.

Mommy.

German dancers.

Some kind of horse dance. I'm not exactly sure what it was for.

Alexis eyeing Daddy's beer.
All in all, another fun day!

Cruisin' Kiddo!

I've been trying to get video of Alexis crawling, but everytime I take out the camera, she stops to smile. I finally got a video of her this morning. It's not the best, especially because the pajamas she was in are a little tight, so she doesn't have the best motion. Anyway, enjoy...

Rockin' Baby

A couple of weeks ago, Grandpa sent Alexis Mommy's old rocking chair. It's just her size, and despite the look on her face, she really does like it...
