A quiet day at home

The other day, Daddy had to work early, so we had a quiet day at home, and Mommy got a little camera happy...

Nevada Southern Railroad

Today, we took a family trip to the Nevada Southern Railway. It's a scenic train ride that leaves from Boulder City.

The train station.

Alexis waiting patiently to board the train.

Sitting on the train.

I don't know what she saw, but it must have been exciting!

Some scenery.

Enjoying the ride.

Having a snack.

Playing.

Chewing on Daddy.

More scenery.

Family time.

Just before we got back to the station, the engine died, and we had to sit and wait for another engine to tow us away. We were blocking the road, and this truck didn't want to wait any longer.

Eventually, we made it back and walked around the museum.

These are some of the old restored cars.

Life in Las Vegas

I think that a lot of people misunderstand what it means to live in Las Vegas. Believe it or not, we don't live here so that we can walk around half naked, and drink and gamble 24 hours a day. We live here because of this...

Today was 70 degrees outside. It wasn't particularly sunny, but it was a beautiful day for a walk. After living in the northeast for so long, it's still hard to believe that it can be so nice in February. This is the view looking down our street. It's a little hard to see (especially since it was a cloudy day), but what a view! Snow covered mountains and warmth in the valley! That is why we live in Vegas.

Year of the Ox

Chinese New Year began on January 26, 2009, making it officially the Year of the Ox. So, on Sunday, we made our way over to the Bellagio to see the gardens. If you've never been to the Bellagio gardens, it's a huge indoor fresh flower garden stuck in the middle of a Strip casino. They change the gardens every so often, and in keeping with the Chinese New Year, its current theme is the Year of the Ox. Definitely worth the visit, if you get the chance.

It's supposed to be a year of luck and prosperity.
